Covid-19 Drive up testing locations

LA County

Beginning, Wednesday, April 8, Charles Drew University will offer testing for the community! Utilizing their new grand entrance facing 120th St.

This New York Times article is the most recent in a series of stories

pointing out the racial disparities impacting African American and

Latinx populations.

Here's what we know about Charles Drew Univ. COVID-19 Testing:

  1. Testing will be conducted seven days per week

  2. Between 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

  3. At least 120 tests per day will be administered; however, they expect 200 tests per day and have the capacity to conduct up to 400 tests daily

  4. Testing is by appointment, and individuals must pre-register for the test due to the limited number of tests that can be done per day (see link below to register)

  5. Follow-up for positive tests will be provided by a paramedic or RN via telephone; after the call a follow-up email also will be sent

  6. Those with negative test results will receive an email

  7. Prerequisites for testing will be the same as at other county testing sites

  8. The site will take walk-ups in addition to drive-through appointments

  9. For details on getting a test at CDU or any other county site, see this website:  https://covid19.lacounty.gov/testing/.

  10. Note that as of today, the sites are listed only through April 3.  CDU will be added.

Access to Testing - Make Appointment

As with other new sites that have been established in the last couple of weeks, people who are eligible for a test and have an appointment can stay in their cars for their tests and swab their own mouths and throats.

The testing process takes between five and 10 minutes to complete, but wait times will depend on the time of the day.
